The Convair CV-240 Convairliner is a family of twin-engined regional airliners produced by the US-American manufacturer Convair, Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation. This aircraft family includes the CV-340 Convairliner and CV-440 Metropolitan and the military trainer T-29 and transport aircraft C-131 & R4Y.
The variant CV-340 differs from the CV-240 by having a stretched fuselage (+1,37m / 4ft 6in), modified wings with increased wing span and more powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800-CB16 / -CB17 engines. The CV-440 is a variant of the CV-340. The total production numbers include 571 CV-240 (including T-29A, T-29B, T-29C, T-29D, C-131A) and 510 CV-340 & CV-440 (including C-131B, C-131D, C-131E, R4Y-1 / C-131F and R4Y-2).
